Australia – Take 2

You’ll have to bear with me over the next couple of weeks…..  I’m working on putting together a photo album from our Aussie adventures and editing through photos that I haven’t looked at literally in months.  It’s wonderful to relive our trip and bittersweet as it makes me miss Eileen & Ian who are living there now.  Here is a beauty that I think may have to be a canvas in my stairway…. what do you think?   Cheers :)

It was a great weekend!  We had so much fun with the wedding and all the festivities.  This week we are on to being tourists.  Today we are driving down to Manly to take the ferry into Sydney.  We want to see all the sites…. AND – I’m also going to take some engagement photos for one of my cousins who here attending teachers college with his fiance.  Looking forward to seeing Jeff & Leah!  Then tomorrow we are off to the Hunter Valley which is a wine region for a couple of days.   Here’s a photo from yesterday out on our deck.  I assure you no telephoto lense is needed.. these little guys are very brave.

Eileen & Ian – Married in Australia!

What a beautiful day… for a beautiful couple to have a wedding – Aussie Style!!  I have to admit, going into this I was a bit nervous.  We’ve travelled all this way for me to take photos of Eileen & Ian’s wedding, and I really wanted to do a good job for them.  I had no clue about locations and basically just left if to them to take me around, and I just winged it.  I couldn’t have been happier with the spots they picked.  Beautiful is an understatement.   Breathtaking hardly even covers it.  The Mona Vale Golf Club has the most amazing view.  The ceremony was out on the lawn with the ocean in behind, and the guests had the added treat of watching the whales breach in the ocean during their vows.  It was amazing!

Immediately after the cermony we headed out for some photos.  The rain was moving in and time was a ticking…. check out the beach we went to:

Check out the sky ….. we were quickly on the move to our next spot – the coastline here has tons of beaches – the shots above are at Mona Vale and the ones below are at Newport… I think :)

And then on to the Yaht Club.  Such a cool spot as well.

I fell in love with the wall in the yaht club parking lot!  Isn’t it great!  Such a great texture!  Believe it or not it was drizzling the entire time we were at the yaht club….. we figured a little bit of rain never hurt anyone!

And back to  the golf course for the reception.

I was thrilled that we had a chance to sneak out between courses and grab a few shots on the golf course.  What an amazing location!  What an amazing couple!  Ian & Eileen you both know how much Chris & I and the kids love you both!!  Our time together is always full of laughs and fun and usually a great bottle of wine and some yummy snacks!  We think the world of both of you.  We are so happy to have come over to Aus and share and celebrate with you.  We wish you many blessings and much happiness!!  Big Hugs!!  Sandra

Adventures in Australia – Post #1

You may remember me posting back in March that I would be heading to Australia in October to take my baby sister-in-law Eileen’s wedding photos.  It seemed sooooo far away when we booked our tickets.  With my crazy summer schedule the months and weeks flew past and all of a sudden it was time to pack our bags and head to the airport.  After almost 24 hours straight in an airplane we arrived in Sydney on Wednesday morning.  Eileen & Ian picked us up at the airport and our adventure has begun.  It seems almost surreal to realize that we are pretty much as far away from home as you can get and still be on the planet.   Right now Sydney is experiencing  the longest period of cold weather that it as in 40 years – how lucky are we huh?  I packed all my summer clothes and only one pair of jeans and one sweater….. that being said it is around 17 degrees and sunny…. if only the wind wouldn’t be quite so strong.  Ian & Eileen have rented a home on Whale Beach for all of us to stay in.  Chris’s parents and two aunts are here as well for the wedding on Saturday.  The view is amazing, but don’t just take my word for it… check it out.  This is the view I have when I lay in bed and look out the window……blog04

And this is the little feathered friend that comes to visit every couple of hours.   If only there was a way to ship him home.  The kids would love him!!

This morning Chris & decided to go for a run.  First we ran all the way up the hill – not an easy jog I assure you - and then we made our way down to check out the beach.  The wind is really really strong today so the waves were so awesome.  Please excuse my lovely hair do on our self portrait – we were running, not having a photo shoot :)

Chris really wanted to venture out on the rocks and check things out….. still a little boy at heart I think…. and this is the shot I took of him as he tried to outrun the ocean.

It was pretty funny! I’ll be posting more again soon.  We have a couple more days staying close to the area as we are getting ready for the wedding on the weekend and then next week I think we are going to take a winery tour in Hunter Valley.  Cheers! – Sandra

Ian & Eileen – Married!!

Friday was a big day for the Regier family….. ? Eileen who is Chris’s baby sister – the youngest of 10 – made the trek back home to Zurich to marry the man of her dreams – Ian. ?It was an absolutely fabulous day! The weather was awesome, the ceremony was lovely and always the food at Hessenland was AMAZING!! ?I was reluctant at first to take their wedding photos – and a bit nervous to be honest, but couldn’t say no when asked me to also cover their Australian wedding in October. ?Ian is from Australia and so only his parents and a friend made the trip to celebrate with them in Canada – his brothers and the rest of his mates will be at the October version of their big day…. and just for the record I’m still a bit nervous about October.

When I first met Eileen when she was just 10 years old and in 5th grade. ?She had more than enough older siblings, but I had none younger, so I always have felt a bit like a big sister to her. ?She was one of my bridesmaids 16 years ago at our wedding. ?It was truly an honour to be able to help her tie up her gorgeous wedding gown and get ready to become Mrs. D! ?She was a beautiful bride!

Here are a few of my favourite photos of their day – to see more you can click here to start their slideshow, or download it free in itunes!

Congrats Eileen & Ian – we couldn’t be happier for the both of you! ?Looking forward to celebrating with you all over again in Aus!
