Meet Cynthia Weber – Interior Decorator – Bayfield, Ontario

I’m super excited about this post, for one because it’s a little different photography that I’m used to doing, and second of all because Cynthia Weber (who’s work I’m showcasing) is going to be working with me in decorating my studio this fall.  Cynthia was referred to me by a mutual friend and I knew from our first meeting that I would love working with her.  She’s creative and yet down to earth.  She has a great way of listening to what you want and then running with it and adding in tons of suggestions along the way.  I believe the inspiration with this particular client who’s home I photographed was an English Cottage feel but with a hint of “Bayfield”… artsy and wonderful.  I think you’ll agree it was a mission accomplished!  You can check out the photos from this lovely cottage below and also visit Cynthia’s website to see more of her amazing work! – www.cynthiaweber.com

So here we go…. this is what greats you inside the door.  To the right, the kitchen.  I absolutely love it! Nice and bright and beautiful.

To the left is the dining room,  also nice and bright and ready for entertaining. (my favourite part!)

I absolutely fell in love with these beautiful side chairs in the living room.  The really cool part is they double as extra chairs if needed in the dining room.

This space is so inviting for curling up with a good book, isn’t it??

I absolutely love details.  This custom made ottoman has the greatest legs doesn’t it!  And notice how they match the couch legs?  Super cute!

The master bedroom certainly isn’t big in this little cottage, but it sure is welcoming.  I love the custom headboard that Cynthia created.  Just fabulous!

And again the details!  Matching buttons on the headboard, bedskirt and curtains.  Such a beautiful finished room!

Needless to say I’m super excited to be working with Cynthia to create the studio I’ve always dreamed of!  Can’t wait to show you all.  I’ll be posting more construction photos soon too, so be sure to visit again!!

Hessenland’s Annual Wedding Open House

I’m having a great weekend meeting chatting with clients and meeting new people at Hessenland’s Annual Wedding Open House.  It is always great each year to see the changes and updates that the Ihrig family makes.  It’s pretty incredible really the dedication and forward thinking they have for their business.  This year in addition to their open house they added the friday evening “Tasting Event” for all the couples who are going to be having their weddings there in 2011 and 2012.  It was a chance for them all to see the banquet hall and enjoy then incredible food that they will be serving their guests.  Here are a few shots from the friday evening event and the rest of the weekend as well including the newly renovated bar area.

My New Office – Almost!!

The finishing touches went on the beautiful coffered ceiling in my new office last night.  To say I’m proud of my husband Chris is a huge understatement.  He had a vision and he made a plan which resulted in something that looks like this:

He has put a TON of hours into this.  Now it’s just a matter of a bit of window trim and I’m moving in!  Can’t wait.  Hopefully before long the ground will thaw and we’ll be digging a hole for the foundation of my new studio!  Don’t worry I’ll update you as soon as I can!

Rewind to the 80′s!

I had a phone call a few months ago from a great group of ladies who were planning a benefit for Children’s Hospital in London in March.  They wondered if I’d set up my “Fun Photo Booth” for a few hours at their Rewind to the 80′s  benefit dance.  Gotta say it was a LOT of fun for a great cause.  There was some serious time and effort put into a ton of costumes!  Here are a few of my favourites from the evening.

And the last shots are of the two amazing ladies who planned the event!  Well done girls!  Thanks for asking me to be a part of it all!

Awesome New Site!!

Warning… this could seriously website I’m about to share could seriously affect the amount of time you spend infront of your screen.  Click with caution. …. and don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I’ve found the coolest site!  http://pinterest.com/ – it’s amazing.  It takes a bit to get onto, but basically it gives you pin boards to collect ideas and images.  The possibilities are endless.  For brides they can collect photos they like of bouquets, dresses, decor ideas.  I’m currently collecting images of decor ideas I like… things I’m going to be on the look out for to decorate my studio.  It’s really pretty incredible.  Check out what one of my “boards” looks like:

The other beauty of it is, you don’t actually have to go find all these images yourself.  They show up in your pintrest feed.  I didn’t source a single one of these images, but man are they cool!  I have to give credit where it’s due.  If you want to know more about these images check out the sites they are originally from.  http://www.flourishstudiophotography.com/blog/?p=274 http://www.etsy.com/listing/62066122/record-with-sleeve-wedding-invitationhttp://www.purple-wedding-flowers.com/2011/01/09/autumn-wedding-flowers/ - http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_PkMfmo3uwu4/S2xuutBiH0I/AAAAAAAAAaU/ZtGlrdKJaPA/s1600-h/photostrip.jpg - http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/creative-save-the-date-cards#slide_10http://www.stylemepretty.com/gallery/photo/150883

It really is an amazing site – but don’t say I didn’t warn you about how addictive it can be!!

I’m on the move!

Or I should say… my studio is on the move!  But don’t worry I’m not going far!!
I’ve been searching for a couple years for the perfect space to buy, something with a beautiful outdoor space to shoot in as well as a lovely indoor space, and preferably with fewer steps than my current location.  My search however has come up empty, so instead of buying a less than perfect space, I’ve opted to build exactly what I want.
Plans are well underway for the studio that I’m going to be building at my residence at 72528 Blackbush Line.  My family has a lovely country property that will give me many different outdoor options and we are going to build a beautiful studio that will also serve my clients needs perfectly.  During the construction I’m moving back in (temporarily) to my existing home office, which means I won’t have a studio space to shoot in for the next few months.  If  anyone is wanting to have an indoor studio shoot you’ll need to contact me right away, as I’m planning to move out at the end of March!   I’ll still be shooting family sessions outdoors in the summer months and the plan is that my indoor shooting space will be ready to go just in time for the weather to turn cold again this fall.
I’m really excited about the whole process and will be posting updates and pictures here regularly so check back often once the weather makes it possible for our project to begin!
