Peter & Laura are Engaged – Stratford, Ontario

I love it when I finally get a chance to hang out with a couple who has booked me to take their wedding photos.  I photographed Laura’s brother’s wedding quite a few years ago, her cousin just two years ago and her family this past summer… but even after all those events, I had never really chatted with her and Peter.  We didn’t have a lot of options on dates for their engagement photos.  Pete is studying in Thunder Bay, so coming home for weekends isn’t really an option.  We picked a date over the holidays and agreed to meet in Stratford.  Now I know we’ve had almost no snow this winter, but we sure did get a pile of it during their session.  There was times my camera actually wouldn’t focus cause there was too many snowflakes!  It certainly made for a fun (but chilly) session and some great pics!  Here are a few of my favourites!

It was great to spend some time with you Laura & Pete.  Really looking forward to your wedding this coming summer!

Dan & Dani are Engaged – Bayfield, Ontario

I had a great time just before Christmas when I met up with Dan & Dani in Bayfield to take their engagement photos.  When they booked their session we talked about Christmas lights and snow… and the reality is that with the crazy mild weather we’ve had this winter, it just wasn’t in the cards.  Instead the evening actually turned out so nice that we started our session at the beach… in December.  A little different than the one they’ll be saying their vows on in Jamaica in a few weeks, but a beach just the same.  We tripped around Bayfield for a bit and ended our session at one of their favourite places (and mine) The Black Dog – in Bayfield.  Thanks to Pete for letting us snap a few photos.

Jocelyn & TJ – Engaged!

I love it when a couple incorporates things about them in their engagement session.  It’s not everyday that I photograph large farm machinery as part of an engagement session, but since we pretty much had to literally drag TJ out of the field on a beautiful afternoon it only made sense that we stop by there for a few photos

Then we headed over to the bush at TJ’s home farm where he spent countless hours as a boy.

And of course we made a stop at the original family Homestead where the remnants of  TJ’s Great Great Great Great Grandfather’s (yes that’s 4 greats!)  log cabin still stands.  Love that!

All in all a very fun session!  Congrats TJ & Jocelyn!  I can’t wait to capture your beautiful wedding next summer!

Phil & Holly are Engaged – Goderich, Ontario

I met Holly about 3 years ago when I photographed her brother Jordan’s wedding.  She was just starting a the photography program at Fanshawe.  The following year she contacted me to see if I would consider taking her on as a co-op student.  I was happy to do so as we had really hit it off.  Over the last two years she’s probably assisted me at 40 weddings and has captured some really beautiful images.  I even had the pleasure this fall of assisting her at a wedding.  It’s really been a lot of fun not only to have her help me out but to watch her grow as a photographer.  This summer Holly called me one day very excited to let me know that she and her boyfriend Phil had gotten engaged.  I couldn’t be more happy for them!  I’m looking forward to attending (yes attending, not shooting) their wedding next Spring, and was really honoured when they asked me to shoot their engagement session this fall.  Holly really wanted the photos to be about them… so what better place to start that at Paddy O’Neill’s where they met while they were working together.  Holly still has the original note that Phil left her with is name and number one day after work.  I think it’s a safe bet to say she’s glad she called him :)

And then we headed off to one of their favourite places… the river right near where Holly lives.  Absolutely gorgeous don’tcha think?

It was a bit of a hike, but well worth it!

Such a fun shoot!  Thanks so much to both of you!  Phil you were an absolute great sport!  Can’t wait to celebrate with you both in May!

Christina & Ben are Engaged – Exeter, Ontario

I can’t tell couples enough, how important an engagement session is. It’s such a great time for us to get to know one another a bit better and for them to start to feel a little more comfortable in front of my camera…. I promise, it doesn’t hurt.  At any rate, I had a great time a couple weeks ago with Ben & Christina.  It was a gorgeous afternoon and we had a nice time tripping around Exeter snapping photos.  Here are just a few of my favourites!

Chris & Sam are Engaged!

I love that golden light that is so beautiful some evenings… just about an hour before sunset.  Absolutely beautiful and cannot be created by anything other than a gorgeous sunset!  Chris & Sam were lucky to have just such an evening for their engagement session.

They also brought their little guy Spencer along for a few pics.  What a sweetheart!  I’m not usually one to prefer b&w photos… but I think this session just kinda lends itself to it… what do you think?

Congrats on your engagement!  Can’t wait to capture your wedding next Spring!!
