Darrell & Jen – Engaged!

Jen had emailed me back in December to see about getting some engagement photos in the snow.  We set a date for early January and boy oh boy snow it did…. snow and wind and basically an all out blizzard.  We decided to reschedule for February…. hoping for snow, but not quite that much snow.   Mother Nature decided yet again to drop down lots of white stuff, but the wind was a bit more friendly so we decided to give it a shot.  It was so much fun (and a bit cold I might add)!  We met up at one of my favourite country locations – my in-laws farm – and tromped around to capture these.  Meet Jen & Darrell

When I started editing through there photos I first thought the next photo was a mistake.  With all those flurries in the air, my autofocus lens was having a hard time keeping it’s focus on Jen & Darrell…. but after looking again I decided I quite liked this “mistake”.

Love this shot!  Jen has such a great smile!

I hope you had a fabulous Valentine’s date after our shoot!  It was so much fun to work with both of you!  So looking forward to your wedding at Hessenland in July when the temperatures will be a lot more friendly!

Dan & Elisha – Engaged

It was great to meet up with Dan & Elisha a couple weeks ago to take their engagement photos.  I always find outdoor shoots in the winter both a delight and a challenge.  The light is so different this time of year, and can actually be a lot brighter than in the summer due to the reflections off the snow, but I love the challenge of something different!  Not too many people are willing to brave the elements for an outdoor winter shoot, but they sure are fun!  At any rate…. we met at Elisha’s parent’s home which is also where their wedding will take place this coming summer.  It is really a neat property and I can’t wait to see how their wedding day turns out, and to see how different everything looks when it is green instead of white.  We started out by walking out to the location where their cermony is going to take place.  It’s at an old barn foundation.  Really cool.

There is also a stream and a bridge and all sorts of cool spots!  Love this location!

And of course our shoot wouldn’t have been complete without including Kyra in a few!  She is their adorable little girl and I absolutely fell in love with her. Thanks so much for a fun afternoon Dan, Elisha & Kyra!  I can’t wait to see you all again soon!

Erin & Josh – Engaged

A great big SORRY to Erin & Josh and their wedding party for not posting this sooner.  All my adventures in October certainly put a hamper on my blogging.  Way back at the end of September I had the pleasure of hanging out with Erin & Josh and their wedding party in Grand Bend for an afternoon.    Erin & Josh are the first couple I’ve had ask me if they could include their wedding party in their engagement session.  They both thought it would be fun to get all their friends together and for them all to have a chance to meet and work with me a little bit before their big day.  I thought it was a great idea, so they all piled into a motorhome and made their way from Stratford to Grand Bend on a nice sunny Sunday afternoon.  It was great fun to meet them all and hang out.  Here are a few of my favourite shots from our session.  Looking forward to seeing you all again in 260 days!

Jeff & Leah – Engaged in Sydney!

Yesterday was such a fun day.  We drove down to Manly and hoped on the ferry into the city.  I had arranged ahead of time to meet up with my cousin Jeff who is attending University here with his fiance Leah.  They’ve been dating for a little over 6 years, but just got engaged this past Christmas.  We had decided to meet at the Sydney Opera house steps.  What we hadn’t counted on is the other thousand people who would be on the opera house steps.  So I told Chris to keep an eye out and I headed for a quick trip to the ladies room… funny thing is Leah had the exact same idea so after travelling over 15,000 kilometers we met up in public washroom.  Strange but true!  We found the boys and Jeff, Leah & myself went for a walk to snap some photos while Chris and the rest of group went exploring around Sydney.  It was so neat to see the diversity in the trees and buildings.  We had a great chat and ended up after a couple hours back in Jeff & Leah’s neighbourhood.   Here are some of my favourite shots….

It was great to see them both and we had fun time strolling around the city.  I wish them all the best as they finish up their schooling for the next year or so before heading back to Canada!
