Caroline & Jeff – Expecting!

I was so excited when Caroline contacted me about taking her maternity photos.  Not only is she my daughter’s teacher this year, but almost exactly 3 years ago she and Jeff gave me the honour of capturing their wedding day.  I’ve actually known both Jeff & Caroline for about 5 years, since before they were actually a couple! Jeff & Caroline met while they were both teaching at my children’s school, so it’s been really neat to see them grow into a family of 2 and then 3 and now on to number 4!  Soon to be Big Sister Addison was also along for their photoshoot.  This little girl is absolutely adorable and almost stole the show.  Here are a few of my favourite images from their session.

Congratulations to all of you!  I can’t wait to meet your new little one in just a few weeks!

Baby Zachary

It was great to see Dave & Melanie and meet there little man Zachary.  Melanie has made some of the most amazing wedding bouquets that I’ve had the privilege of photographing over the years, so it was nice for her also to have a turn infront of the camera.  Zachary was absolutely adorable and we had a great time.  Here are a few of my favourites from our shoot!

Boersma Family Photos

It was so much fun to have Amy and her children come to the studio for a photo shoot.  I love the energy and excited that comes with toddlers, and Amy has double the fun with her twins!  I have to say her older boys were so VERY VERY patient and well behaved… waiting for their turns and listening to all my instructions.  Thanks so much boys!!  Here are a few of my favourite photos from our session.

I even managed to sneak in a photo of Amy with all her kids.  Love that!  How often does Mom actually get to be in the photos??   I’m sure after our morning adventures everyone, including Mom enjoyed a little rest in the afternoon.  Thanks so much Amy for bringing your kids in for a photo session.  Such good fun!!

Iain & Joanne – Married!

Saturday I started off my 2010 wedding season with Joanne & Iain’s wedding.  It was neat when I met them early this year and had a chance to talk about what they wanted their wedding to be.  In Iain’s words, it will be just like they are – and he couldn’t have been more accurate as there was a reflection of each of them scattered all throughout their day.  Joanne is definitely a details person so much of the handy work could be attributed to her amazing skills, but Iain’s hand was in much of it as well, including the beautiful lanterns that helped to light their ceremony amphitheater.  Luckily they had planned for indoor photos, as the weather was anything but pleasant.  There was some rather amazing window light that I just fell in love with and I think when you check the images you’ll understand why.  A few of my favourites are in this blog post, but to see the complete story you can click here to watch a slideshow.  You can also download a free itune’s version if you’d like to have it on your iPod – just search for “Sandra Regier” in the itunes store.

Congratulations Iain & Joanne.  I hope you have a wonderful time honeymooning in NYC!

Baby Jax

I am totally in love with newborn babies… love their chubby toes, their soft little skin and that new baby smell… there is nothing like it.   Baby Jax was no exception.  He was less than a week old when I went for a visit and took his first portraits.  Such a little angel.  I hope when he’s two and giving his mom and dad a run for their money the can look back at these images and remember those toes and that wonderful smell!

And no one was more excited than his big sister Sophie!  Congrats Chris, Krista & Sophie!  Jax is a beautiful addition to your family!

Mother’s Day Contest!

In celebration of Mom’s I’ve decided to hold my first ever Mother’s Day Contest.   The prize will be an outdoor or studio session for one deserving mom plus she will win her very own custom photo purse! Total prize value is well over $200 so please be sure to nominate yourself or a deserving Mom that you know into the contest.  Only one entry per person please!  You can click here to go to the contest form.

To give you some inspiration I thought I’d blog about a mom who I felt was so deserving that she actually received the same prize as her Christmas Present from me – my good friend Aimee Rau.  I’ve known Aimee since she was and I were we little girls, we didn’t really grow up together, but I somehow always remember knowing her.  As teenagers we hung out quite a bit and we went on in life to marry two great guys who happen to also be friends.  Aimee had her first child just weeks apart from my third.  Our two girls have always been good friends.  Our boys were born a little further apart, but still happened to land in the same grade.  Needless to say they also have fun getting into trouble together.  All of this aside, the reason I wanted to give something special to Aimee was as a little thank you for all the love and inspiration she gives to tons of kids each and every day.  Miss Aimee, as she is often called, is a piano teacher like no other I know!  She is caring and patient to each and everyone of  her “little Mozarts” and has inspired more young musicians that I can count – including 3 of my own children!  Here is a shot I took of her outside her music sudio “The Music Box” last week.

So hat’s off to my good friend – Miss Aimee!  A mother to two and mentor to countless!  Thanks so much for all the music and love you share with our community!  Girl you are the best!!

Now if you know someone who would love a custom photo purse or if you’d like to nominate yourself… go to the form and tell me about this special mom – it can be funny or creative or whatever you like!  Just click here and nominate away!!
