Baby Dakota

I was so excited to meet this little lady.  Baby O who was given the beautiful name of  Dakota -  was much awaited by her entire family and friends.  Dakota is the first grandchild for both of her families so they couldn’t be more thrilled that she arrived safe and sound.  Here are a few of my favourite photos from our session.  It was so hard to pick just a handful!

This little sweetheart was so chubby and so pink I just couldn’t get enough of her… and check out her fingernails!

Loved her little half smile! What a beautiful family!

Brandon couldn’t look any more proud of his little girl.  Love this photo of them!

As nervous as Alysha is about having her photo taken she sure isn’t nervous about being a mom.  Dakota snuggled into her arms and is completely relaxed!  So beautiful to watch!

And I thought I’d use a shot from their session to help wish you a Happy Easter this weekend!  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a cuter Easter Bunny!

I’m sure Dakota will be the hit of all the celebrations this coming weekend!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get to spend some time with your loved ones!

Baby Reeze

It was so great to see Beate again and meet Steve and Reeze.  Reeze was just over 2 weeks old when he had his very first photo shoot at my studio.  All in all he seemed a bit bored by the whole process.  There is nothing like a sleeping newborn, and this little man is absolutely perfect.  I’m pretty sure his parents think so too!  Check out how they look at him.

You always forget just how tiny a newborn’s hands are.  Here is holding his Daddy’s wedding ring.

It wasn’t until we took off his jammies that he decided to open his eyes…. just for a second.

Thanks so much Beate & Steve for allowing me the privilege of capturing this moment in Reeze’s and your life!  I can’t wait to see him again soon!

Watching Beate Grow – Maternity Session

I was so happy with the images I captured of Beate in March.  Such a beautiful lady!  Her belly absolutely suited her and she was glowing!  Last week I had the pleasure of meeting her little boy Reeze as well.  Can’t wait to blog those photos soon!

Valley of Fire

Hands down one of my favourite places to visit is the Valley of Fire.  If you look back through my old blog posts you’ll see that I’ve been there before a time or two.  I never get bored of it though.  The landscape is absolutely breathtaking.  This year there were quite a bunch of us from Ontario who decided to take a day and rent a couple of cars and head out to the desert for a fun shoot.  I honestly didn’t get a chance to shoot too much as I spent a good part of the time posing instead, but here are a handful I did take.  Including a couple of what it looks like when 10 ladies armed with more than 20 cameras pile out of cars and start shooting!

Doesn’t look like much of a location to most people, but this is what I shot… kinda fun.

Lindsey looking as cute as ever!

What do mean it’s dangerous to play in traffic?

Love this shot of Jodi with her red shoes!

The ever beautiful Kathy DeMerchant!

Had loads of fun playing with my brand new Radio poppers!  Love off  camera flash!!

Love these two photos of Barb. The last one was definitely her idea.  I think it is stunning and I’m so glad she asked me to take it for her.  Barb you are a brave woman… not just for going topless in the desert but for doing so on a freezing cold and rainy day!  :)   Hope you like the photo.

If you ever decide to head out to Vegas make sure you add the Valley of Fire to your “Must See” list.  It really is an incredible place and just a one hour drive out the city!  Happy Friday everyone… I hope you enjoy your weekend!!

Viva Las Vegas – Part 1

If there is one thing I hate it’s being late.  I get this paniced feeling and I feel awful at the thought that someone is waiting on me.  Travelling with Krista, Nataschia & Rosita is sort of a therapy for me…. the opposite I suppose of quitting cold turkey.  If there is one thing I’ve learned, especially about Krista, is that there is always time…. time to get a haircut on the way to the airport, time to stop and buy a little bit of chocolate before you get on the plane, and time for a good heart to heart with a good friend no matter what.  It’s amazing the calm and giggles this girl has even when it’s the last boarding call for your plane.  So even though they make me a little crazy and  I feel like I’m trying to heard cats, I know that deep down I need to learn that even though I’m feeling a bit paniced there is always time for the important things.    Needless to say we made it to Vegas safe and sound and are having an absolutely fabulous time.  Last night we decided after our classes we had lots to talk about and headed out on the strip to find a quite restaurant to have a good meal and long chat.  We decided that the Hard Rock menu looked good and asked the hostess to find us a quiet table if possible.  We quickly learned that our version of quiet and hers were two very different things.  The food was awesome and the staff…. well the staff was the hilarious.  You really have to take a minute and to go Nataschia’s blog to check out our crazy antics!   This photo (courtesy of Krista) is my favourite so far of the four of us on our adventures.  Front and center is Christian Smith our wonderful waiter.  He ended our meal with a tour of the third floor which has all the awesome Rock and Roll memorabilia.  If you ever end up at the Hard Rock in Vegas be sure to ask for him and please tell him the four crazy photographers from Canada sent you.

Only at the Hard Rock in Vegas does this happen:And to end my blog post on a somewhat calmer note, here a couple of shots I took of our hotel as we were walking back to call it a night.
Today I’m off to class to spend some more time learning from the fabulous Julia Woods! Hopefully I’m not late for class!! Having a great time in Vegas! :) Sandra
