Fundraiser for Haiti – Children’s Carnival in Exeter

I wanted to blog about an event I’m involved in this weekend.   If you are a friend of mine from facebook, then you’ve probably already heard about this, but just incase I thought it was worth posting again.  You can’t help but hear hourly updates on the radio about the devistation in Haiti.  I think at times it’s easy to feel completely helpless to do anything to help all these poor people who have lost literally everything.  Hopefully in some way I can help make a difference.  This weekend I’m going to be volunteering and taking photos at a Children’s Carnival in Exeter with all proceeds going to Haiti.  I’ve copied the write up from the facebook posting.  The event is being organized by Amanda Neilands and she writes…..

FUNDRAISER FOR HAITI

We have been talking to our kids about what is happening in Haiti. They wanted to help but weren’t sure how to go about it, so after many many interesteing ideas, Cassidy came up with the idea to have a princess party. Drew thought that maybe something for the boys would be nice as well, so we have decided on a carnival. The following will be at the carnival:

DESIGNERS FASHION CORNER
They will be painting nails and doing make up on all the girls that would like it

Bouncy Castle
Preschool Castle crawl Maze (with mini ball pond)
Crafters Station
Face Painting and temporary Tattoos
Balloon Animals
Musical Costume Parade
Giant Snakes and Ladders
Parachute games

PRESCHOOL FUN ZONE
A floor piano and ‘tiny tot’ piece – this adorable little footprint pad that makes funny sounds as the child walks on them – the PreSchool Toy Zone (assortment of age-appropriate toys) and our pop-up tent & tunnel

all from http://www.par-t-perfect.com

PROFESSIONAL PICTURES BY SANDRA REGIER

We encourage the little ones to wear there princess dresses, pirate wear, super hero costumes etc if they like

We will also have a princess and pirate for you to meet if you so like.

Admission will be $10 per child, as well accepting any donations on top of that if you can.

100% of the proceeds will be going to Haiti via Trivitt Church

Please invite all your friends to this event, we want as many kids as possible out for a really fun day and a great cause!

London Convention Center Bridal Showcase

This past weekend I was part of the Bridal showcase at the London Convention Center.  It was great to meet so many people and see all the great new ideas in wedding decorating and fashion.  Some amazing stuff!  I also thought I’d share a couple photos of my booth!

The last shot is a a close up of one of my wedding albums.  I work with an amazing company out of California and my bridal albums are actually waterproof.  This is a shot of one submerged in water.  It certainly made people do the double take.  All in all it was a great weekend!  A great big thank you to my husband Chris who not only made my rocking display but did the lions share of set up and tear down!

Best of 2009!

2009 – What a year!!  A complete whirlwind!  I hardly know where to begin.  Last year I shot 31 weddings – including one in Australia and one in Cuba.  I also opened a studio in Exeter and dove into the world of studio portraiture.  On a personal note I sent my oldest daughter off to highschool and my youngest son started grade 1.  To say it was a busy year would be an understatement.  It was really hard when I was going back through my wedding images to pick favourites.  Each photo reminds me of a story or a moment of a particular wedding.  I have  really enjoyed getting to know each and every couple.  I think I managed to find a few photos from each wedding to put into a slideshow that you can click here to view.  And all I have to say is watch out 2010… here I come!

Baby Derk!

I’m certain that Alicia and Trevor agree that this little sweet heart was well worth waiting the extra 11 days for!  Derk was just 9 days old when he came to the studio for his first photo shoot.    Usually babies that are less than 10 days old are pretty sleepy….. but I think someone forgot to tell Derk as sleeping was really not on his agenda.  I think we did get some lovely photos of him.  Such a tiny little man.

Alicia & Trevor – Waiting for a baby!

Alicia was a week overdue when she called to see about a maternity session.  I was so excited and spent the next two days praying she wouldn’t go into labour before our session.  Thank goodness she arrived at my door a full nine days overdue and ready for some photos.   Two days later they welcomed Derk into their family.  I can’t wait to meet their lovely little son a little later this morning!   I must say her positive outlook and patience really impressed me.  I was overdue with 4 out of my 5 pregnancies, and I hardly think I was nearly as content as a Alicia… in fact I was probably what one would call a little grumpy.  Congrats Alicia & Trevor!!

Baby Cole

I was excited to have Cole and his mom and dad come in for some baby photos.  It almost broke my heart to wake him up from such a peaceful nap, but unfortunately his schedule and the rest of ours were not in sync.  Thank goodness he woke up happy.
