Adventures in Australia – Post #1

You may remember me posting back in March that I would be heading to Australia in October to take my baby sister-in-law Eileen’s wedding photos.  It seemed sooooo far away when we booked our tickets.  With my crazy summer schedule the months and weeks flew past and all of a sudden it was time to pack our bags and head to the airport.  After almost 24 hours straight in an airplane we arrived in Sydney on Wednesday morning.  Eileen & Ian picked us up at the airport and our adventure has begun.  It seems almost surreal to realize that we are pretty much as far away from home as you can get and still be on the planet.   Right now Sydney is experiencing  the longest period of cold weather that it as in 40 years – how lucky are we huh?  I packed all my summer clothes and only one pair of jeans and one sweater….. that being said it is around 17 degrees and sunny…. if only the wind wouldn’t be quite so strong.  Ian & Eileen have rented a home on Whale Beach for all of us to stay in.  Chris’s parents and two aunts are here as well for the wedding on Saturday.  The view is amazing, but don’t just take my word for it… check it out.  This is the view I have when I lay in bed and look out the window……blog04

And this is the little feathered friend that comes to visit every couple of hours.   If only there was a way to ship him home.  The kids would love him!!

This morning Chris & decided to go for a run.  First we ran all the way up the hill – not an easy jog I assure you - and then we made our way down to check out the beach.  The wind is really really strong today so the waves were so awesome.  Please excuse my lovely hair do on our self portrait – we were running, not having a photo shoot :)

Chris really wanted to venture out on the rocks and check things out….. still a little boy at heart I think…. and this is the shot I took of him as he tried to outrun the ocean.

It was pretty funny! I’ll be posting more again soon.  We have a couple more days staying close to the area as we are getting ready for the wedding on the weekend and then next week I think we are going to take a winery tour in Hunter Valley.  Cheers! – Sandra

Gillian & Tyler – Married… or should I say… GILSON!

You had to be there…. Gilson is the “Couple Name” that their good friend and MC came up with for them…. Gillian & Tyler Wilson will now officially be know as Gilson.  Gill & Tyler met in highschool…. 10 years ago!  Gill I must say you are quite a trooper to make through Tyler’s ten year program.  The smile on your face all day told me you knew it was worth the wait!  It was so wonderful to see how in love these two are!    Here are a few of my favourite photos for the day.   You can click here to start their slideshow.  The itunes download will be ready in a little while, as I’m heading out on holidays today.

Jason & Caylan – Married!

To say the day was perfect would be a lie.  You see Caylan had been planning and hoping for an outdoor ceremony in Hessenland’s beautiful gardens for over a year.  Last week her facebook status was very clear  ”I don’t care if they say about rain being good luck – if it rains on Saturday I will be deeply disappointed” – and needless to say rain it did.   When I arrived  to see Caylan get ready there were a few tears.  We did manage to get outside and take some portraits of her and the girls.  While we were out on the lawn her mood seemed to visibly change as she came to the certain truth that whether the day was “perfect” or not the man she was about to marry was and really, that’s all that mattered.  The rain started just as the ceremony was about to begin so we moved in doors in to the cozy and inviting coach house.  The ceremony was really beautiful and you could tell the Jason & Caylan had put a lot of thought into it.  Soon after the ceremony was finished, the clouds parted and we ventured outside once again for photos.  I think all in all, even though their wedding day wasn’t maybe exactly like they dreamed it would be the love they share and the family and friends they had around them to celebrate with made their day wonderful just the same!  You can click here to start their slideshow, or download it free in itunes.
