Where did my baby go???

It amazes me how fast kids grow…… Next week Victor – my baby – will turn 6 years old. ?In September he will be in school everyday and our play days together will be a thing of the past…. so for the next few weeks I’m going to do my best to enjoy them. ?Here are a couple shots I took of Vic over the last couple of days.

And this week he’s beginning to master a 2 wheeler….? I know lots of kids get this before they are 6 – but Vic hasn’t been to keen to move toward 2 wheels, and being the baby of the family, we weren’t in a hurry to push him…. but look how proud he is.

As sad as I am in someways to see the baby days fade away, I couldn’t be happier with the wonderful big kids I’m watching grow up around me… did I mention 2 of them are taller than me now?? Crazy but true!!

Shooting Wish List

So they say that writing things down helps your dreams to be realized. ?I figured I may as well give it a try…. here’s a list just off the top of my head of a few places or things I want to shoot., not in order or preference just as they come to me….. as I think of it I’ll blog some new things to add to the list.

1. an proposal – without the bride knowing

2. a shoot in an orchard that is in full bloom in the Spring

2. a wedding in Quebec City or Old Montreal

3. wedding portraits in a cool vineyard

4. an engagement session in a cool rundown looking back alley

5. a wedding or engagement session with a couple on horses

6. a wedding in Europe – what the heck… may as well dream big :)

Like I said, just off the top of my head, a few things I’d like to do…… I’ll keep you posted as I come up with more, or managed to do a couple (hopefully it’s Europe… just kidding!!).

Jeremy & Lisa – Engaged!

A couple weeks ago I met up with Jeremy & Lisa to shoot their engagement photos in Clinton.? Their little boy Caden was along for the fun and I just couldn’t resist shooting a few of him as well, he is such a sweetie!!!? It’s so neat for me to see Lisa all grown up.? For years she and her sister Amy were our favourite babysitters.? They always came as a pair…. and they were so cute.? I remember specifically when Caroline who is now 10 would squeal as they’d walk in the door and take out her soother and run yelling LIIIIISSSA.

Jeremy & Lisa are a beautiful couple and I’m so excited and honoured to be shooting their wedding next month.?? Here are a few of my favourite shots from their session.

Awesome Thing #30 – Community

I’ve been struggling for the last couple of days as to what to blog about my final “awesome” entry.? I decided instead of just picking one awesome thing, I’d lump a few together and simply call it community. ? It’s hard to sum up and articulate the wonderful community or I should say communities I am a part of. ?I have an incredible family that includes a huge extended family community … with dozens of aunts and uncles – probably close to 75 first cousins… 40 nieces and nephews….. we are so blessed. ?I also have an awesome church community – both at the church I am now a part of St. Boniface RC and also the one I grew up in Zurich Mennonite. ?My kids and our family are part of an awesome school community at St. Boniface School. ?I am also a part of a community of photographers which is called “Chick Clicks” which supports and encourages women photographers (yeah!!) This morning I was also at another community called “Heart to Heart”.? It’s a great group for ladies in the Zurich area that meets in the spring and fall for 10 weeks at a time on Tuesday mornings.? We have a book study, social time and an elective.? It’s really an incredible program.? It offers free childcare so that Mom’s can have a morning to just relax and enjoy visiting with other women.??? I think community is such an incredible thing…. to support one another and grow together.? I know they say it takes a community to raise a child, but I think it goes WAY past that.? There are many times in my adult life that I think my community and networks have been the strength that kept me going.?? I hope that if each of you has a network of family and friends and community…. and if not, there a tons out there to join in – you just gotta look for them!? Here are a couple photos I took a couple weeks ago at Heart to Heart…

….isn’t she the cutest!!

That concludes my “awesome” entries….. I’ll be back to blogging in my usual manner soon!? I have a couple of sessions I’ll be posting this week.? Until then have a great day!!

Awesome Thing #29 – Spring has Sprung

It’s April, it’s 20 degrees outside and the tulips I planted last fall have decided to poke through the ground…. what could be more awesome than that?? This year is seems as though winter has dragged on and on.? Today the beautiful weather gives everyone a spring in their step and a smile on their face.? I’m sure by the middle of next week we’ll be back to complaining about how cold it is again, but for now I’m going to enjoy my tulips!? Spring is awesome!

Awesome Thing #28 – Hairspray

Okay not just hairspray, but hair products and flat irons and curling irons….. can’t imagine life without them.? I LOVE LOVE LOVE Aveda products, but have quite an aersenal of other brands as well…. don’t have a favourite, just depends on my mood and what kind of hair I want… flat & sleek or curly and fun.? Here’s a shot of some of my favs.? I can’t imagine sleeping in rollers or pin curlers…. and with all this stuff, who needs to??

At the risk of sounding horribly shallow and vain…. i think hair products are AWESOME!!
