Awesome Thing #12 – An early taste of Spring

About this time of year I get extremely tired of the icky, muddy, raining and just generally drab weather that comes with late winter and early spring.? I know it’s an part of the process of moving from winter to summer, but let’s get on with it already shall we??? Can’t the grass soon start to look green and the trees start to sprout buds of leaves?

One definite way to help beat the winter blahs is to take a drive to your local greenhouse and see what’s growing for spring.? I happen to have a favourite – my parent’s greenhouse Huron Ridge Acres?- and it sure does make my day to walk inside and feel the warm temperatures, smell these lovely flowers and realize that Spring planting time is really just around the corner.? In just a few short weeks my pansies will be in the ground and my tulips (hopefully) will have sprouted.? I can’t wait!? I think that?getting a little taste of spring early is an awesome way to make your day!

Awesome Thing #11 – My New Video Light

I just got my hands on this sweet little number yesterday:

?It’s a neat little light that I discovered in Las Vegas when?the fabulous?Krista Jefferson?took this photo of me:

It’s such a cute little light, compact and lightweight and does a nifty job of lighting your subject.? This photo of me was taken in a busy restaurant in Las Vegas… but with the lighting the way it is you’d never know it.? Thanks to new?friend from PEI – the ?hilarious and wonderful – Rachel Peters for introducting me to this lovely little gadget!!? I love new photography toys.? If you want more info on where I got this you can click here to check it out!? I’ve been dying to try out video lights as an alternative light to flashes and with this little baby it’s actually an affordable way to play around and see if I want to spend some money on a bigger light.? I’ll try to post some images using it before too long.? The best part…. it not only helps make great pictures?…. it cost me less than $50!? How awesome is that!

Awesome Thing #8 – Family & Company in Stratford, Ontario

Today I was in Stratford with my daughter Caroline and we made a pit stop at one of my favourite places – “Family and Company”?.? It is a gem of toy store unlike any other I’ve seen before.? They have the craziest collection of stuff ever.? There are very very few name brand toys.? You won’t find a Barbie or a Hot Wheel anywhere, but you will find tons of stuff that will give hours of fun to both the young and the young at heart.? Here are a few photos I snapped of some eye catchers.? There are countless puzzles and board games, little wind up toys, bubble blowers, dressup clothes, musical toys…. the list goes on and on….

Love the selection of finger puppets – including a pirate!?

ps.? For those of you attending my workshop this coming Saturday – one of these items will look awfully familiar when we are taking photos!? Can’t wait to see you there!
