Falling Behind Again…..

I thought this winter there would be tons of time to catch up on all the little things I let slide during wedding season. ?I thought I’d have my house organized, my office in order, my editing caught up and hopefully be working away at stripping the old finish off of the staircase in our home….. boy was I dreaming. ?It would seem that no matter what, life is busy. ?There is always laundry to do, dishes that are dirty, and baking that needs to be done for lunches…. I guess that goes with having 5 kids. ?Then there is the business end of things. ?I guess the reality is that as much as I think the winter is a slower time to get caught up, this year it simply isn’t going to happen, atleast not until March :) ?Now to bring you up to speed with my life…..

Last week I was away at the Wedding Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) convention. ?It was amazing! ?There were over 11,000 photographers that descended up on the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. ?The creativity and energy in the building was incredible. ?I learned so much and am totally inspired to make 2009 my best year yet! ?I’ll try to blog and add some photos about my trip in the?next week or so! ?The best part about it was the connections I made, new and old….. It was great to spend another week with Krista, ?she is an awesome blessing and joy in my life. ? I was also so thankful to really connect and get to know Nataschia?… she is incredible and I’m so glad I had this opportunity to hang out, laugh like crazy and get to know her! ?There are countless other people who I added to our trip, Rod, Maggie, Chris, Brian, Jasen, Jennifer, Scott, Rockie,?Rachel….. just to name a few. ?Thanks to all?of you for helping to make my Vegas experience truly memorable!! ?Here’s a photo of Nataschia, Krista & myself on our last night out in Vegas – I stole it from Krista’s website – thanks friend :)

Pat & Cheryl Engaged!

It was beautiful sunny February day when I hooked up with Cheryl & Pat in Goderich to shoot their engagement photos. We tripped around finding different spots that I love and got to know?one another a bit.??It turns out that?Pat played basketball in highschool with one of my nephews, not surprising really once you know how many?I have, and that Cheryl is a cousin to a groom?I worked with 2 summers ago.? Small?world! ?It was great meeting both of them, and I’m really looking forward to working with them again in September!

On a Personal Note – Tooting my own horn!!

I’ll be posting photos from Saturday’s wedding soon, but in the meantime, I just had to share this with you.

This morning I ran just over 3 kilometers!!? I know it doesn’t sound like much – but for me this is huge!? And let me tell you, if I can run, ANYONE can run!! Last September I would have told you, I can’t run – I hate to run – I don’t run.? Even as a kid I always hated playing soccer because I was such a poor runner.?? This past fall I was starting to seriously entertain the idea of getting into shape – my kids are all in school 2 to 3 days a week, and I figured it was time to start taking care of myself a little bit better.?? This past October I was extremely busy with weddings and needed something to help with the stress of everything – I had a 10 day stretch where I shot 4 weddings.? That exact week I found out that my best girl friend had started running.? I’ve know Aimee since practically forever, and let’s just say that neither of us has particularily excelled in the sporting department…. we can out sing you, but out run you, not a chance ….. until now.? Aimee you have inspired me to push myself beyond anything I could have imagined!? Thanks so much!?? I started in October with the goal or running 2 km – exactly the distance to the nearest stop sign and back – I honestly thought I’d never be able to run that far.? It was tough going for the first month or so but I’m so glad I stuck with it.? In January I gave up on trying to find my own indoor places to run and joined the local fitness club.? This morning on the treadmill I almost giggled outloud when I reached the 2 mile mark…. not 2km…..? I never thought I’d get this far, and now I can’t wait to see how much farther I can go!
