Okay blog readers… here’s my challenge to you.? This week I’ve been thinking about a way I can give back to my own community.??At Christmas time there is always an appeal from all kinds of non-profit organizations to support their causes… shoes for kids in Africa, clean drinking water, shoe boxes for needy kids, just to name the three that have been sent to me directly in the last couple of days, and while?I think these are all great causes, it always makes me?wonder- when there is so much need in our own country and communities?do these seemingly bigger world issues cause us to overlook needs closer to our homes and hearts?? So here’s my plan to support a local cause….. I want each of you to think of the best gift you ever recieved or gave at Christmas.? For everyone?that joins in the fun and comments, I’m going to purchase 1 non-perishable food item and donate it to the local food bank.? How much I donate is totally dependant on you my blog readers. You have until Friday, December 12th to post a comment!
To start things off I’ll share my favourites with you.? I have received lots of wonderful presents over the years, including a lovely saphire?& diamond necklace, but I would have to say that the favourite gift I have received is my KitchenAid mixer.? Now that probably sounds strange… but I love to bake and cook and I would have never spent the money on a good really good mixer.? It was such a surprise when Chris bought it for me.? I was absolutely thrilled.??? I’ve also have lots of great memories of giving a gift…. two of my favorites are the year I bought Chris a really nice set of power tools.? He was just like a little kid.? So excited and couldn’t wait to open the box and plug everything in.? There is also the year that I managed to find Rachael the “Happy Family Barbie” kitchen.? It was discontinued, but I did manage to find one on ebay.? She was soooo excited.
Anyway you get the point… share your memory and I’ll make a food bank donation!? Reminisce away!
