Time to Focus

I’m finally getting a chance to put my thoughts together and blog about some of the insights I gained in Chicago from Jasmine Star & David Jay.? They are two amazing photographers with incredibly sucessful careers.? They shared tons of info with us but there was one very simple quote from Jasmine that really hit home with me….. “Do one thing very well” – “Just because you can do everything doesn’t mean you should” – wow… it’s like she was talking directly to me.

See here’s the thing, in my life I try to do everything.? It’s extremely rare for me to say “I can’t do that” – in fact if someone tells me I can’t I’ll more than likely try to prove them wrong.? I volunteer my time to lots of different organizations and I generally don’t have the word “no” in my vocabulary when people are looking for help.? The crazy part is that this has now carried over into my business as well.

This year I’ve taken pictures of just about everything, realestate, ice sculptures, soccer teams, church directory photos, families, engagements, babies, bellies, weddings, and yes even one wild turkey.?? It seems as though something has got to give, this past year it has been spending time with my family and friends, and taking time to do the things I really love….. but things are about to change my friends!

Sooooo here’s the big announcement.? Starting September 1, 2008? I will be focusing strictly on weddings.? That means that for atleast the next year, I won’t be shooting anything else.? I’m focusing all of my energies into servicing my wedding clients to the best of my abilities.? This will include not only their big day but their engagement photos, album design and all the other important parts that go into such an amazing occasion in a couple’s life.? I want to get to know them and hear their stories and really capture the emotion and love they share.?

The great part is that Tricia has decided for the next year to focus on familes, babies & maternity photos.? This means that each of us will have our own area to specialize in.? We really feel that this will work best for our clients and our own lives as well.

Now, for those of you who have already scheduled your family session with me for September & October, don’t worry, I’m going to fulfill all of my commitments before entering this new phase.? For everyone else, Tricia will? be focused on capturing family and maternity memories in her fresh and creative photography style that was and is evident in her work with weddings!? You will see some changes in our website shortly to reflect the new focus for Sandra Regier Photography!

We really appreciate all of your support and comments!

Hey Sandra
I agree with Jasmine’s statement. Good for you!! It looks like between the two of you, you’ve got it all covered anyway.

Monica my dear friend – as much as I love you I will not take photos of your weeds. :) Thanks for helping me off on the right foot!

Way to go, Sandra! Sounds like a creative and do-able way to put family first.

So here’s a chance for you to practise the word no. Dear Sandra, will you please do a small shoot of the incredible weeds in my backyard? (I figured we could start you off easy.)
