Time to Focus

I’m finally getting a chance to put my thoughts together and blog about some of the insights I gained in Chicago from Jasmine Star & David Jay.? They are two amazing photographers with incredibly sucessful careers.? They shared tons of info with us but there was one very simple quote from Jasmine that really hit home with me….. “Do one thing very well” – “Just because you can do everything doesn’t mean you should” – wow… it’s like she was talking directly to me.

See here’s the thing, in my life I try to do everything.? It’s extremely rare for me to say “I can’t do that” – in fact if someone tells me I can’t I’ll more than likely try to prove them wrong.? I volunteer my time to lots of different organizations and I generally don’t have the word “no” in my vocabulary when people are looking for help.? The crazy part is that this has now carried over into my business as well.

This year I’ve taken pictures of just about everything, realestate, ice sculptures, soccer teams, church directory photos, families, engagements, babies, bellies, weddings, and yes even one wild turkey.?? It seems as though something has got to give, this past year it has been spending time with my family and friends, and taking time to do the things I really love….. but things are about to change my friends!

Sooooo here’s the big announcement.? Starting September 1, 2008? I will be focusing strictly on weddings.? That means that for atleast the next year, I won’t be shooting anything else.? I’m focusing all of my energies into servicing my wedding clients to the best of my abilities.? This will include not only their big day but their engagement photos, album design and all the other important parts that go into such an amazing occasion in a couple’s life.? I want to get to know them and hear their stories and really capture the emotion and love they share.?

The great part is that Tricia has decided for the next year to focus on familes, babies & maternity photos.? This means that each of us will have our own area to specialize in.? We really feel that this will work best for our clients and our own lives as well.

Now, for those of you who have already scheduled your family session with me for September & October, don’t worry, I’m going to fulfill all of my commitments before entering this new phase.? For everyone else, Tricia will? be focused on capturing family and maternity memories in her fresh and creative photography style that was and is evident in her work with weddings!? You will see some changes in our website shortly to reflect the new focus for Sandra Regier Photography!

We really appreciate all of your support and comments!

Chicago – taking the windy city by storm

We couldn’t resist and had to be total groupies and have our photo with the tour bus.?

As most of you know, Tricia, and I were in Chicago this week to see the Free to Suceed tour with David Jay & Jasmine Star – two of?our very favourite photographers.?? We had an awesome time.? Here are some of the photos we took on our downtown excursion.

This is the “Marshall Fields” department store downtonwn.

Of course we had to take the extra tour with a stop at Harpo studios.? They aren’t filming right now, but we did visit the Oprah Store and snagged ourselves a couple of souveniers.

?

The building on the right is the new Trump tower, still under construction.? I loved the contrast of the really old high rise next to it.? Very cool!

?

One of the stops on the bus was Millenium Park.? What a cool park right in the heart of downtown.? It had beautiful gardens and fountains, an outdoor amphitheatre, and this thing… don’t know what they call it but it’s pretty cool.? The second photo is a self portrait of us.

This was our high class mode of transportation!? It was fun…. and totally tourist-like!

I’m happy to say I have the weekend off to spend some time with my family.? I’ll be blogging more next week about some things I learned in Chicago and want to share with you.? I’ll also soon be posting my slideshows from last weekend’s weddings!? If you are looking for something to do tomorrow, come and join Chris & I and the kids at the Zurich Bean Festival – it’s always a fun time!

Veronica & Jay – Married!!

Saturday was a gorgeous day for an outdoor wedding – and Jay’s parent’s home was an amazing spot to hold it.? The gardens were immaculate, the tent was gorgeous and the bride and groom were absolutely glowing!? You see this day was a long time in the making.? Veronica & Jay met in 9th grade music class where they both played the trumpet.? It took a few years for their friendship to grow into something more, but by their last year of highschool they were offically a couple.? They dated all through University – which was no small course.? They both have worked very hard at their education and Veronica is now a dentist and Jay is just about?finished up with his own schooling…. not exactly sure what but I believe Science is definately his field.? I took over 1500 images of the day, but as I’m racing to get everything ready for my little trip, here are a handful that I picked out in a few short minutes.? I’ll definately be posting a slideshow before too long!? Thanks for including me in your day guys!? It was wonderful, and I feel blessed to have?been there to celebrate along side you!?[gallery size="full" columns="1"]
