Happy Birthday Mom!

Today my Mom, Carol Steckle turned 60.? Much to her surprise this afternoon she had a house full of guests and a lovely dinner out with her family.? It was a great day!

I can’t sum up in just a few sentences all that my Mom means to me.? She is a woman who I admire for her faith, commitment and love of her family, her willingness to give of her time and talents to help out in the community, her incredible spirit of determination, her ability to always learn something new, and her outgoing and friendly personality.??I am very proud to have the privelege of calling her Mom!? I?hope that today on your birthday you really know how much you are appreciated and loved!

Barb’s Smiling Eyes

Sunday I had the pleasure of meeting Barb & Larry and their family.? Barb has been fighting like crazy and isn’t about to give up!? She has a great twinkle in her eye and I just love this photo of her.? I know she was a little self conscious of having her photo without her scraf, but I think it’s absolutely stunning!

I asked one of their daughters – Cheryl, to tell me a bit about her parents….. Her words were so touching I had to add them to my blog entry. “My parents lives has been devoted to their family?which has always been very important to all of us.? With mom’s diagnosis with this acute condition (approximately?4 months ago)?their love has grown even stronger and their lives have been changed forever.? None of us are?sure what?we are to learn from this but we have decided that what we will take away from this is to be sure to let your family know how much you love them every day (so that you never have to worry about what you haven’t said when it is time to say goodbye) and treasure every moment…like we will these photos!”

All the best to entire Ballantyne family!? II hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Darryl & Ashley – Married!!

I was so excited to shoot Darryl & Ashley’s photos on the weekend.? It’s been over a month since a shot a wedding so it was a great time to gather some new ideas and fresh energy.? I also knew that Darryl & Ashley were up for just about anything, which makes my job super easy.? They are such a nice couple and had such a fun and easy going wedding party.? They were all great sports about trudging through the knee deep snow and FREEZING while we took a few photos.? Ashley’s?parents have such a cool house.??Her dad has been very busy for the last year renovating and restoring their home and?her mom has?a really great decorating sense?to go with it. ?I just loved the colours in the rooms and the fact that the vintage wall paper (which I LOVE) is still in the front entrance.? It made for an?awesome day of shooting!??

As I was skipping through the images trying to pick out my favourites for the blog entry I realized that I quickly have well over 30 photos selected to be my blog photos…. just a few too many, so I’ve parred it down for today.?Here’s a handful for you and the rest will be in the slideshow tomorrow sometime!? Enjoy!

Christmas Christmas Time is Here……

I love the chipmunks!? Alvin has always been my favourite – me I want a hoolahoop…..

To start things off, thanks?to all of you?who left comments on my previous blog entry.??This week I’ll be donating 50 canned?goods to the local?food bank.? I know I didn’t quite get 50 comments, but I’m happy to pump up the donation.? We have been so blessed this?year that it only seems right to help out?where we can.?

Last night was my wonderful husband’s birthday.? I still see him as the?handsome, funny?18 year old guy I fell in love with….. just more mature :) ? We had his favourite supper – soup and a hamburger and then spent the evening with our annual gingerbread house making party.?? It was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoyed it.? You may notice from the photos that Bailey is missing.? I love how she is growing into a beautiful young woman…. part of which involves that her social life is getting very busy.? Lastnight she was at a girlfriend’s birthday party.?We had set the gingerbread?date long before she received her invitation to the party, so she told us to go ahead an make the houses anyway as she knew her little sister’s and brother’s were really looking forward to it.?? I thought that was very grown up of her, but I still missed her last night in all the fun.??? Here are some photos of our creations! – and a very Happy Birthday Chris!
