Viva Las Vegas – Part 1

If there is one thing I hate it’s being late.  I get this paniced feeling and I feel awful at the thought that someone is waiting on me.  Travelling with Krista, Nataschia & Rosita is sort of a therapy for me…. the opposite I suppose of quitting cold turkey.  If there is one thing I’ve learned, especially about Krista, is that there is always time…. time to get a haircut on the way to the airport, time to stop and buy a little bit of chocolate before you get on the plane, and time for a good heart to heart with a good friend no matter what.  It’s amazing the calm and giggles this girl has even when it’s the last boarding call for your plane.  So even though they make me a little crazy and  I feel like I’m trying to heard cats, I know that deep down I need to learn that even though I’m feeling a bit paniced there is always time for the important things.    Needless to say we made it to Vegas safe and sound and are having an absolutely fabulous time.  Last night we decided after our classes we had lots to talk about and headed out on the strip to find a quite restaurant to have a good meal and long chat.  We decided that the Hard Rock menu looked good and asked the hostess to find us a quiet table if possible.  We quickly learned that our version of quiet and hers were two very different things.  The food was awesome and the staff…. well the staff was the hilarious.  You really have to take a minute and to go Nataschia’s blog to check out our crazy antics!   This photo (courtesy of Krista) is my favourite so far of the four of us on our adventures.  Front and center is Christian Smith our wonderful waiter.  He ended our meal with a tour of the third floor which has all the awesome Rock and Roll memorabilia.  If you ever end up at the Hard Rock in Vegas be sure to ask for him and please tell him the four crazy photographers from Canada sent you.

Only at the Hard Rock in Vegas does this happen:And to end my blog post on a somewhat calmer note, here a couple of shots I took of our hotel as we were walking back to call it a night.
Today I’m off to class to spend some more time learning from the fabulous Julia Woods! Hopefully I’m not late for class!! Having a great time in Vegas! :) Sandra

WPPI & I

So excited to be heading back to Las Vegas on Wednesday!  This will be my 4th year to attend the Wedding Portrait Photographer’s  International Convention in Las Vegas and I couldn’t be more excited.  Each year I learn so much and meet such incredible people.  Let me start with the obvious… my two BFF’s…. Krista & Nataschia.  These two incredible women encourage and inspire me daily via the world wide web.  Due to the fact that they are both over 2 hours away from me, we don’t get to see each other often so just to travel with them and hang out will incredible.  This year we are dragging along Rosita… hope she can handle our crazy antics and messy room :)   This year I’ve registered for an extra two day program with Jeff & Julia Wood.  I’m so excited to have the opportunity to learn with them… crazy excited actually!! I’ll be doing my best to answer my emails over the next 10 days, but if you are looking for me in person after Wednesday you’ll have to come here to find me  :)

Viva Las Vegas!!

Alysha & Brandon – Expecting!

I was super excited when Alysha emailed to see about joining the Watch Me Grow program.  I clearly remember these two when they were dating in highschool, and I was privilege to capture both their engagement and wedding photos so now to be able to watch them as they embark on they journey into parenthood is really fun.   They are both such wonderful and kind people that I know they will make awesome parents!  Alysha has always been a bit nervous infront of the camera, but I think her nerves were completely unfounded as she looks just fabulous!

The last shot is for her little sister who has entrusted Alysha with her extensive collection of high heels while she is travelling and working in Europe.  Alysha & Brandon I wish you all the best for a safe and speedy delivery and I can’t wait to meet Baby O when he/she decides to make an appearance!!  Good luck!!

Darrell & Jen – Engaged!

Jen had emailed me back in December to see about getting some engagement photos in the snow.  We set a date for early January and boy oh boy snow it did…. snow and wind and basically an all out blizzard.  We decided to reschedule for February…. hoping for snow, but not quite that much snow.   Mother Nature decided yet again to drop down lots of white stuff, but the wind was a bit more friendly so we decided to give it a shot.  It was so much fun (and a bit cold I might add)!  We met up at one of my favourite country locations – my in-laws farm – and tromped around to capture these.  Meet Jen & Darrell

When I started editing through there photos I first thought the next photo was a mistake.  With all those flurries in the air, my autofocus lens was having a hard time keeping it’s focus on Jen & Darrell…. but after looking again I decided I quite liked this “mistake”.

Love this shot!  Jen has such a great smile!

I hope you had a fabulous Valentine’s date after our shoot!  It was so much fun to work with both of you!  So looking forward to your wedding at Hessenland in July when the temperatures will be a lot more friendly!

Basil & Gloria

I couldn’t resist posting these today!  My niece & nephew were here this morning and they are too cute not to share with all of you right away!  Love these little munchkins!  Let me start with Basil…. at 9 months old he is so darn squishable!

I couldn’t resist taking the next one!!  For the first few months he was alive he was known only as “Basilbear”

The next photo is for his Dad & mine … two of the biggest Hab’s fans around!!

And now onto Miss Gloria.  Sweet as a button and definitely on the shy side.  After almost 3 years she’s sort of warmed up to me… she still won’t go anywhere near her uncle Chris…. but Aunt Sandra always has cookies and milk for her :)   Here she is with her favourite “Pink Baby” – that’s her name…. not overly creative, but accurate.

Never a dull moment with this girl around…. squirmy is an understatement.  I asked her at one point if she had ants in her pants…. she answered “No, my bums just slippery.” – too cute!

And here are a couple of both of them… not an easy task my friends!!

Thanks Loretta for bringing them out!  It was great fun to chat and chase your babies!!  Big Hugs to all of you!  Love Aunt Sandra

Australia – Take 2

You’ll have to bear with me over the next couple of weeks…..  I’m working on putting together a photo album from our Aussie adventures and editing through photos that I haven’t looked at literally in months.  It’s wonderful to relive our trip and bittersweet as it makes me miss Eileen & Ian who are living there now.  Here is a beauty that I think may have to be a canvas in my stairway…. what do you think?   Cheers :)
