Monkey Hooks – Seriously the coolest thing

I love having photos on my wall.  Love it.   The problem is I was always terrified to try and hang them.  Scared I’d make a gigantic hole in my wall and have to have the drywall repaired.   I always would have Chris hang them for me…. which he is awesome at doing, but sometimes I had to be a bit more patient that I wanted to be.  Now that I’ve found theses amazing little things I’m able to hang the photos all on my own.

This is a monkey hook.  Simple and easy.  Rather than trying to explain the finer points, I figured I send you to their website…..http://www.monkeyhook.com/ - We picked ours up at Lowes I think, but I’m pretty sure you can get them at any hardware store.  They have different weights and we even found some that will hold up to 50 pounds.  Pretty incredible.  I used one to hang this canvas in my studio.  The print is 30×30″ in size so it’s pretty heavy, and this little hook does a fabulous job!

I love anything that makes it easier for everyone to hang photos on their walls, cause really that’s where they should be!!:)

Great tip!!! Ordering some immediately! I have the same problem — Impatience and then a huge hole in the wall ;)

Thank You Cards

Little know fact: I love receiving cards in the mail… and I love sending them.  It’s like a little present in your mailbox.  Someone thought of you and took the time, wrote a note and put a stamp on it.  What a lovely little gesture that says so much – I care, I appreciate you, and thanks.  One year for my birthday a friend of mine (who has yet to fess up to it)  sent out an email to a bunch of my friends reminding them that my birthday was coming up in the next couple weeks and asking them to drop a card in the mail…and this is what happened… I think in total I received over 20 birthday cards that year!! Let’s just saw it was a pretty awesome birthday!

As a service to my own clients I offer photo thank you cards and Christmas cards, baby announcements … just about anything you can dream up!  I know that for couples who have recently gotten married the task of writing thank you cards seems a bit (or maybe a lot) daunting.  So many cards … so many addresses.  I encourage all of you instead to think about how happy the people who receive those cards will be.  The fact that you took the time and wrote them a note is always appreciated.   Here’s a photo of the card that Kaley & Aaron sent out to their guests this past year.

And this morning, I came across a blog entry called ‘5 Tips for Wedding Thank You Cards’ –  a great little read for brides and grooms – Thanks Emmaline Bride!.

So in short I encourage all of you too keep up the ‘art’ of sending handwritten cards… for any occasion! You can guarantee it will be the highlight of someone’s day when they find it in their mailbox!

Sandra,
I love this – you’re totally right – receiving a hand written card in the mail can make someone’s day!

Erin & Josh are Expecting!

It was so great to catch up with Erin & Josh again and to see their little family growing.  It seems like just yesterday I was capturing their engagement photos and  shooting their wedding … remember that crazy shot from way up high in the bucket of a tractor??   It was great to see them both again and I can’t wait to meet their little baby when he or she decides to make their debut!    Erin is a kindergarten teacher and she did a survey of her class and over 2/3 of them think she is having a boy…. I guess time will tell on how well 4 and 5 year olds are at predicting babies?!?  Wishing you a safe and easy delivery!  See you in just a few weeks!!

Family Albums are Now Available!

I was so excited to open up my delivery today and couldn’t wait to show you my newest sample album for families and babies.  This one is an album that I designed for a newborn session I did this past fall.  It turned out so great!  Here are a few photos I took of it to share with you.

Such a sweet baby and this album will be an awesome keepsake for her!

Baby Dylan

Little Dylan was just a week old when he stopped by for his first photo shoot.  Such a content little man.  Here are a few of my favourite photos from his session!

Congrats to Brent & Morgan!  You have one sweet little boy!
